Full Unit-wise Syllabus

Unit I – Introduction to Human Anatomy and Physiology

Definition and scope of anatomy and physiology; Levels of structural organization; Anatomical positions, directional terms, planes, and body cavities; Homeostasis and feedback mechanisms.

Activities: Group discussions, quizzes, MCQs, assignments, diagram-based identification , and visual learning exercises on anatomical positions, planes, body cavities, homeostasis, and feedback mechanisms.

Unit II – Musculoskeletal and Integumentary Systems

Bones and joints – types, structure, and functions; Overview of the muscular Musculoskeletal and Integumentary Systems: system – types and mechanisms of contraction; Integumentary system – skin layers and functions.

Activities: Group discussions, quizzes, MCQs, assignments, chart/model-based classification activities, and visual learning exercises on bones, joints, muscles, muscle contraction, skin structure, and functions.

Unit III – Nervous, Endocrine, Cardiovascular and Immune Systems

Central and peripheral nervous systems; Synaptic transmission and reflex arcs; Major endocrine glands, hormones, and regulation. Heart anatomy, circulation pathways; Blood components, types, and hemostasis; Lymphatic system and immune overview;

Activities: Group discussions, quizzes, MCQs, assignments, diagram-based activities, and visual learning exercises on nervous transmission, reflex arcs, endocrine regulation, circulation, blood components, immunity, and hemostasis.

Unit IV – Respiratory, Digestive, Excretory and Reproductive Systems

Structure and function of respiratory organs, gas exchange. Anatomy and physiology of alimentary canal; Urine formation, osmoregulation; Male and female reproductive systems; Menstrual cycle and hormonal regulation.

Activities: Group discussions, quizzes, MCQs, assignments, system mapping activities, and visual learning exercises on respiration, digestion, urine formation, osmoregulation, reproductive systems, and hormonal regulation.

Course Outcomes (COs)

  • CO1: Understand anatomical terminology, levels of body organization, and homeostatic mechanisms of the human.
  • CO2: Apply the principles of anatomy and physiology to explain the structure and functions of the musculoskeletal and integumentary systems.
  • CO3: Analyze the coordination of nervous, endocrine cardiovascular, and immune systems in maintaining physiological functions.
  • CO4: Evaluate the physiological mechanisms involved in respiration, digestion, excretion, and reproduction under normal and altered conditions.
  • CO5: Integrate knowledge of human organ systems to interpret physiological balance and predict the consequences of system dysfunctions in health and disease.
