Course Objectives

  • To impart practical skills in the assembly, disassembly, and welding of components using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • To provide hands-on training in electrical wiring practices, and the use of electronic components, sensors, and actuators.

Full Unit-wise Syllabus

Unit I – Dis-assembly & Assembly Practices

  1. Tools and its handling techniques.
  2. Dis-assembly and assembly of home appliances – Grinder Mixer Grinder, Ceiling Fan, Table Fan & Washing Machine.
  3. Dis-assembly and assembly of Air-Conditioners & Refrigerators.
  4. Dis-assembly and assembly of a Bicycle.

Unit II – Welding Practices

  1. Welding Procedure, Selection & Safety Measures.
  2. Power source of Arc Welding – Gas Metal Arc Welding & Gas Tungsten Arc Welding processes.
  3. Hands-on session of preparing base material & Joint groove for welding.
  4. Hands-on session of MAW, GMAW, GTAW, on Carbon Steel & Stainless Steel plates / pipes, for fabrication of a simple part.

Unit III – Electrical Wiring Practices

  1. Electrical Installation tools, equipment & safety measures.
  2. Hands-on session of basic electrical connections for Fuses, Miniature Circuit Breakers and Distribution Box.
  3. Hands-on session of electrical connections for Lightings, Fans, Calling Bells.
  4. Hands-on session of electrical connections for Motors & Uninterruptible Power Supply.

Unit IV – Electronics Components / Equipment Practices

  1. Electronic components, equipment & safety measures.
  2. Dis-assembly and assembly of Computers.
  3. Hands-on session of Soldering Practices in a Printed Circuit Board.
  4. Hands-on session of Bridge Rectifier, Op-Amp and Transimpedance amplifier.
  5. Hands-on session of integration of sensors and actuators with a Microcontroller.
  6. Demonstration of Programmable Logic Control Circuit.

Unit V – Contemporary Systems

  1. Demonstration of Solid Modelling of components.
  2. Demonstration of Assembly Modelling of components.
  3. Fabrication of simple components / parts using 3D Printers.
  4. Demonstration of cutting of wood / metal in different complex shapes using Laser Cutting Machine.
