Full Unit-wise Syllabus
List of Experiments
- Flow Measurement Devices Calibration of rotameter and flow measurement using venturimeter/orifice meter/notches.
- Bernoulli’s Theorem - Verification of Bernoulli’s equation.
- Losses in Pipes - Determination of friction factor and minor losses.
- Pumps - Performance characteristics of centrifugal and reciprocating pump.
- Turbines -Performance characteristics of Pelton and Francis turbine.
- Metacentric Height - Determination of metacentric height of floating bodies.
Activities: (Perform any 2 tasks) 1: Compare discharge values obtained from different devices and analyze errors. 2: Evaluate major and minor losses in the system and Compare experimental results with theoretical/Moody chart values. 3: Plot performance curves and determine the specific speed of a centrifugal pump 4: Plot characteristic curves (H–Q, η–Q) and determine efficiency of a reciprocating pump. 5: Assess stability conditions and compare with theoretical values.
Course Outcomes (COs)
- CO1: Perform fluid mechanics experiments and obtain relevant measurements.
- CO2: Analyze experimental data to evaluate flow behavior, losses, and energy principles.
- CO3: Evaluate the performance of hydraulic machines and interpret results for practical applications.
Assessment Pattern (Quick Note)
- Weightage: Continuous Assessment 60% | End Semester Examinations 40%
